About this work

Commissioned for the forward-thinking book Office Shock, co-authored by academic and futurist Dr. Joseph Press, this artwork required a radical re-envisioning of the future of labor. Instead of depicting work within the traditional, closed confines of a corporate office, I chose to expand the narrative into a broader, interconnected city scene. In this future, "office work" is no longer a physical destination, but a fluid civic function woven directly into the fabric of the community.

The outcome

01. Technology as a Commmunity Commons

Rather than leveraging artificial intelligence and digital connectivity for hyper-capitalist corporate profit, the technological infrastructure of this city is entirely in service of the community. An open IT backend serves as a decentralized organizational hub, allowing citizens to easily organize, form local networks, assemble expert teams, and claim tasks based on immediate civic or project needs.

02. The Shared Civic Workspace

The physical environment mirrors this digital fluidity. Specialized workspaces are completely shared and integrated into a massive, multi-functional public infrastructure. Work, leisure, community organizing, and education all occupy the same open architectural zones, removing the barrier between "life" and "labor."
