Symbiotic city

Phase III represents the absolute realization of Eric Hunting’s vision: the city transformed into a living, endlessly adapting symbiont. In this distant era, humanity has finally integrated into the complex web of interdependency that defines our biosphere. We recognize that Earth is a marvel precisely because its diverse lifeforms co-evolved to actively generate the conditions for life. Our architecture now functions exactly the same way.

The divide between the built environment and the natural world has completely dissolved. We have engineered cellular architectural materials that are virtually indistinguishable from biological organisms. This living infrastructure co-evolves alongside its human and non-human inhabitants alike. Every structure, shelter, and pathway is intentionally grown to sustain biodiversity, operating strictly within the localized ecological boundaries of its ecosystem. Driven by constant real-time feedback loops, the city actively communicates with its environment, redefining the very concept of an ecologically crafted human habitat.
